Football – When the Roman’s are away the Larks will play!

Bath City are on the road this weekend away at Chelmsford in the Conference South on Saturday in a 3pm ko. The City management will be keen to tweak their formation again to get back to winning ways with Nick McCootie and Dan Bowman sure to play a part after being rested on Tuesday. Ross Stearn will be looking for another league start having been used mainly a substitute this season so far with Phil Walsh looking to get some more game time to aid his remarkable recovery from injury.

Larkhall are at home this weekend with Cinderford Town the visitors to Plain Ham this Saturday in a 3pm ko. Captain Ollie Price has said the 40 points tally is the target for now with the Larks looking to build on their early season form. The form over the last 5 league games has halted their progress a little with 3 draws and two loses but a good home crowd will help spur them on to victory.

Odd Down have a good chance of progressing in the FA Vase and bagging some much needed prize money when they take on Hallen at home on Saturday 3pm ko. They have preformed well in the league this season but suffered an unexpected 5-1 at home to Western League Div One side Cribbs in their last outing in the Les Phillips Cup. So in their 6th straight home game they will be looking to put on a decent show for their fans!

Keynsham Town are also at home this weekend taking on Wellington in a 3pm ko on Saturday. Chris King saw his side have two players sent off in their last game so will be hoping for better discipline this weekend as Wellington are on of the stronger teams in their division. Liam Robson and Tom Morgan are starting to gel up front for the Ks so they will be confident of scoring if they can produce the chances for the front duo.

The Western League – Odd Down are in the Premier and Keynsham in the First Division – are now offering all Service Men and Women free entry to all league games. More information can be found on their website here. Lets hope the locally based Service Men and Women take up this offer in the area to help raise attendances for our teams!

Rugby – Bath away with Avon at home

Bath Rugby are away this Saturday to London Irish in the Aviva Premiership in a 3pm ko. Last weekend they got back to winning ways in the league against Newcastle after two weeks of cup action so they will be looking for back to back wins with a victory on Saturday. They have some key players coming back from injury and have been out in the local community this week too; Charlie Ewels picking a winner for their official Christmas card competition.

Avon Rugby might be able to pull a few extra fans in this weekend when take entertain Newent at home on Saturday 2.30pm ko. After some disappointing results Clive Book’s side bounced back to winning ways last weekend when they beat Keynsham away. Book will be hoping for a few more players to overcome their injuries for this game. There is also an old boys meet up after the game too in their club house, all family and friends of the club are welcome.

Bath Rugby aren’t on TV this weekend either so make sure you come along to Hicks Field for a great game of rugby!

Where will we be?

We have had a kind offer of a match report from the Bath City game so we will be heading to either Larkhall or Keynsham as well. There will also be a match report from Avon Rugby club from Steve Bird or a comment from Clive Book after the game. There is a great choice of games to get to this weekend, make sure you get out of the house and enjoy them!

Also another mention to our sponsored club in the Welsh Premier League Aberystwyth Town FC who drew with TNS last week. This keeps them in the hunt for 2nd place in the league and they travel to their rivals Bangor City on Friday night. Bangor find themselves bottom of the league but have always proved a hard team to beat over the years with Neville Powell in charge, so best of luck to the Green Army!

Enjoy it whichever game you take in!
