Weekend Preview 4th/5th July 2015

Weekend Bath based Preview
4th/5th July 2015

Wow this football season has come along very quickly with all of our local teams back in full training this week. We’ll take a look at one team though who have their first pre season game this weekend!

Community Match

Keynsham Town and Brislington take on the might of Bristol City this Sunday (5th). This is Bristol City’s annual Community Match taking place at Brislington Stadium in a 1pm ko.

Brislington compete in the Western League Premier Division, while Keynsham Town play in the Western League Div One. Each side will play 45 minutes against the Sky Bet League One champions and Johnstone’s Paint Trophy winners.

Over 900 tickets have been sold so far and promises to be a great occasion for the non league players and fans alike.

Manager Steve Cotterill said: “Everyone thoroughly enjoyed last year’s game at Portishead, with a fantastic turnout of supporters, young and old. I’m sure this year’s match will be equally popular.”

Amy Kington, Bristol City Community Trust director, said: “Our role within the greater Bristol area is to use the power of football and other sporting activities to improve the lives of people through participation in sport, exercise and education.

“BCCT recognises the positive role that it can play within the community and we want this fixture against Brislington and Keynsham to help both clubs attract more players, spectators, coaches and administrators!”

The heat will play a big part in what sports people will take part in this weekend. Luckily for the people of Bath the Cleveland Pools are reopened to the public.

Cleveland Pools – Party at the Pools

Open from 11am-3pm Cleveland Pools will have a day of fun for the whole family. There will be a brass band and theatrical entertainment at Britain’s oldest surviving Georgian outdoor pool. There will be many more events and opportunities for the public to use this pool throughout the summer.

No feeling that energetic? Why don’t you hop over to Bristol this Sunday for some shopping and more…

Table tennis – Make Sunday Special

Bristol hosts a shopping event, Make Sunday Special, which looks to celebrate all of the independent shops in the city. There will be table tennis on offer thanks to Ping! linking up with Battle of the Paddle in St Nicholas street. Other events include City of Bristol Learner Brass Band, the Bristol Pride Dog Show, Balfolk in the Street, United Beatz & Balkany Band.

Finally we wish Bath & Wiltshire Romans all the best in their West of England 9s Competition in Swindon today. The club have had a great start to their first ever season and will be looking forward to challenging themselves again today.

So it should be a good day to take the whole family to and try something new.

Whatever you get up to this weekend make sure you enjoy it and #keepactive
