End of the 2015/16 season
Bath men’s Football

Bath City play host to Margate at Twerton Park in a 3pm ko on Saturday 30th April. This is the last game of a very up and down season for the Romans and their loyal fan base.

Gary Owers side are safe from relegation following their 3-0 away win at Hayes & Yeading last weekend. Margate however have it all to play for as they sit just a point above the relegation drop zone. Owers spoke to the Bath Chronicle and insisted that his team won’t be giving Margate any quarter this Saturday.

A win would see the season end on a high for the Romans, with the end of season awards happening after the game. Before the game City fans will be gathering in the city centre for a march to the match; starting at 12.30 in Flan O’Briens.

Ray Johnson’s AFC Odd Down are away this Saturday to bottom placed Welton Rovers on the last official weekend of the Western Premier division. There are still games outstanding though for a number of the teams in the league but crucially for Odd Down, Barnstaple in 2nd place conclude their season this weekend.

Fifth placed Melksham Town welcome Barnstaple in a 3pm ko so by 5pm the result would have filtered through to the Odd Down dressing room. Barnstaple have to win to draw level on points with Odd Down but if Johnson’s men gain points then they have won the league with a game to spare.

Odd Down club officials will be hoping that the title will be wrapped up this weekend so that they can celebrate winning the league in front of their own fans as they play a strong Bradford Town side on the 3rd May. However Welton will have pride to play for this weekend as they are already relegated back to the Western League Division One. So Johnson will be looking for another professional performance from his side so that the last game of the season can be a celebration with their fans.

Keynsham Town travel down to Cheddar for their last league game of the season. Regardless of the result Chris King’s men have had a great season with increased crowds, a top ten finish and 21 (potentially 24) points more than last season. The club can mathematically still finish 6th should results go their way, although this is highly unlikely given the amount of games the other teams have to play.

The Ks are still in the Les Phillips cup and will play Hengrove on the 2nd May in the Quarter finals. So silverware is still a possibility for one of our local sides.

Larkhall Athletic have also got a trophy in their sights, having already finished their league season last weekend. A draw at home to the league leaders ensured a top half finish for Wayne Thorne’s Larkhall but their club are still involved with the Somerset Premier Cup.

High flying Western League Div One Wells City stand in their way in the final. The final will be hosted at Taunton Town’s Virador Stadium on Tuesday 10th May. You can book your place on the coach already on the Larkhall website.

So there are still some important games to go for our local teams, make sure you get out and support them!
