Baseball comes to Keynsham 2017

BRISTOL BASEBALL CLUB MOVES TO SOMERDALE PAVILION

From this season Bristol Baseball Club is moving to the Somerdale Pavilion, a new sports and conference centre in Keynsham run by the charity Aquaterra Leisure.

The club, which was based at Failand, will be at the venue for at least five years and hopes to stay longer.

Now that agreement has been reached, the club will begin to build the new diamond and outfield at the end of February ready for the season which starts in April.

“We are delighted to be moving to Somerdale and want to thank everyone there for making this happen,” said Richard Evans from Bristol Baseball Club. “The quality of the field and the facilities are fantastic and we look forward to a long and happy stay.”

“We have the opportunity to develop the sport and the club throughout the region,” he added.

Patrick Shanahan, Somerdale’s general manager said, “Having the local baseball club at Somerdale will add another sport to an already popular venue. We are delighted we have been able to accommodate a growing sport here and look forward to seeing its development.”

Bristol Baseball Club runs two teams who both play in the South West Baseball League with hopes of adding a third team and a youth programme in the near future.

People interested in taking up the sport can try their hand at two introductory sessions being held on Sunday 29th January in Bristol and on Sunday 26th March in Bath.

Places can be booked at the club’s website
