Chippenham A was the first team to break the 100 point barrier already in the Premier Division this season. They came up against tough opposition in the form the Invaders B team. Addi Duhan won all nine games and dropped only two for the hosts.

The game was 16-13 going into the last singles game of the night, with the doubles still to play. Up steps Gary Baldwin who asserted his dominance over Radhika Agarwal by winning three games straight. Partnered by Terry Parkins, Baldwin went on to help his team to victory with three more points in the doubles.

Bitton 30-0 Bathford C

Home

Chris Toft (9)

Alan Papier (9)

Fred Martin (9)

Away

Russell Cole (0)

Colin Thomas (0)

Julian Kashdan-Brown (0)

Bitton gained a rare whitewash in their last outing as they defeated Bathford C. The trio of Chris Toft, Alan Papier and Fred Martin are looking strong in Division One and could mount a title challenge over the coming weeks.

It was nearly a different story in this game though with Colin Thomas running Papier extremely close in the second game of the night; 12-14, 14-16 before succumbing 6-11 in the last game. Russell Cole almost registered a point against Papier later that night but lost out 10-12 in the second of their three games. Thomas also lost out against Toft in deuce in the final singles match of the night, 11-13 in the second.

Division Two

Oldfield E 20-16 Key Centre B

Home

Ash Godara (3)

Lee Bailey (9)

Colin Dowding (8)

Away

Mark Tanner (6)

Sue Ruse (4)

Stuart Wood (3)

It’s tight at the top of Division Two with Batheaston A top on 110 points. Behind them are Oldfield E and Key Centre B who are now both on 98 points after this game.

The night started well for Tanner picking up three points after a deuce second set against Godara. However Oldfield then asserted their dominance with eighteen points in a row to Key Centre’s four; with Bailey winning all of his matches.

It looked to be twenty one points in a row after Dowding went two sets up against Tanner. In spite of this set back Tanner dispatched Dowding 11-3, 11-9 and 11-3. Ruse then went on to beat Godara, debuting this season, comfortably for an unchallenged three points, with Key Centre winning the doubles 3-0.
