Winter League Write Up 2018-19 Week 7

Take a look at this week’s action from all three divisions:


Premier Division

Oldfield A and Chippenham A continue to be the teams to beat this season at the top of the table. Oldfield battled to a 21-17 home win against Yatton Keynell A, with just two players. Ali Pearson and Jamie Philips seeing out nine points each and a doubles win.

Chippenham A travelled to Bathford B to face the Kashdan brothers and walked away with a 26-13 victory. John Clifford played up and ably supported Terry Parkins and Rick Jemmott’s maximums.

Chippenham C needed a late doubles win to see out their game against Oldfield B 22-21 as the game ebbed and flowed one way then another throughout the night.

Finally Chippenham B secured victory over bottom placed Bath Invaders B by just four points; 20-16. MOTM went to the Invaders Nicholas Branch, who has only lost once all season, picking up another nine points.


First Division

Table toppers Bitton suffered defeat away to Key Centre A 25-16. Brent Pollard and George Pickering both managed maximums for the home side. The Keynsham side also gained points on others in the chasing pack at the top of the table.

Chippenham D travelled to Yatton Keynell C and lost 19-18 to the home side. This was despite Steve Deeble gaining 9 points for Chippenham. Radstock A didn’t play this week so just nine points now separates 2nd and 4th place.

Bear Flat A picked up a good 25-10 win over 5th placed Radstock B. Paul Green and Justin Johnstone gaining maximums. This win came at a good time as the two teams below them lost.

Bottom placed Bathford C lost 16-24 at home to Yatton Keynell B. Adam Dawes and Alasdair Hulbert with nine points each. Oldfield D move into the bottom two after a trip to Ensleigh A. Teenager Ollie Newton continues his progression with a maximum as he lead his team to a 21-17 win.


Second Division

Batheaston A eased their way to a 30-0 victory away to bottom placed Yatton Keynell D. Only Roy Startup was available for the hosts to cut the evening short for Dennis Townsend’s team.

It was also a short night for Key Centre B in second place as they demolished, second bottom, Chippenham E at home 28-4. Dave Carter and Mark Tanner secured maximums with Steve Rodda picking up a win for the away side.

3rd vs 4th ended was tight affair with Oldfield E (3rd) overcame Radstock C 20-19 thanks to maximums from Lee Bailey and Colin Dowding. 5th vs 6th was also eagerly contested with Bear Flat B (5th) coming away with a 21-16 win against Mayfield. Tim Cahill scored nine points for Bear Flat supported by Jon Turner’s six points; who was playing up for this game.

John Hunter was the standout player as Bear Flat travelled to Ensleigh B recording a 25-13 victory. Phil Taylor pushed him hard in their game, as the league debutant picked up 8 points for the home side.

Batheaston B over took Bathford D to break the 100 point mark and get to 8th place; in a 27-11 home win. There was another MOTM performance by Phil Gentle with nine points for Chris Sharpe.
