Keynsham Ladies vs Bournemouth Nov 2018

Keynsham Ladies 8-1 AFC Bournemouth
The SSE Women’s FA Cup
First Round
AJN Stadium
11/11/18

Keynsham Town progress to the next round of the FA at the expense of AFC Bournemouth. At 5-0 up at half time the tie looked over until a early goal gave the visitors a glimmer of hope. However this was crushed with another three goals for the hosts.

The home side took little under five minutes to get on the score sheet. It started with long ball over to Laura Williams, who cuts inside her marker to get one on one with the keeper. She unselfishly squares it to Justine Lorton who finishes well, past the recovering keeper.

A few minutes later they were two goals ahead. Michelle Munro crosses from the right as the defence move up. This leaves three players unmarked with the ball finding Jade Radburn at the back to score after taking a touch. Lorton soon makes it 3-0 after finishing well at the back post; with all of this action happening in the first ten minutes.

There was a bad injury to Bournemouth’s number 10, resulting in her substitution. Hopefully the injury isn’t too bad and that she recovers soon to get back playing.

Kerry Bartlett breaks away on a counter attack on 17 minutes. She is allowed the time to measure a cross as Ellis Hillman nips in between two defenders to touch the ball home; making it 4-0.

Chances are coming thick and fast at this point for the hosts as Corinne Yorston, Williams, Bartlett and Radburn all testing the keeper.

This pressure was bound to yield another goal and it was 5-0 with just 33 minutes on the clock. Lorton’s corner was low and fast into a crowded box and was poked in at the back post by a defender. A moment later it could have been six after a flowing counter, dictated by Yorston, with Ellie Curston stinging the keeper’s hands.

Bournemouth’s defence didn’t give up and blocked another chance after great link up play between Barlett and Lorton, to keep the score at 5-0 going into the break.

The only way Bournemouth were going to get a chance to get back into the tie was by leading from the front. They did manage a break through just two minutes into the half. 11’s cross from the right found 15 ahead of her marker to tap home at the back post.

After a spell a pressure from the visitors and Keynsham scored again. Yorston’s cross from the left finds Kaka inside her two markers to beat the keeper. Then seven minutes later Keynsham make it 7-1. Lorton plays a fantastic through ball to split the defence to allow Bartlett to latch onto the ball and finishes well.

Katie Jones almost got on to the score sheet from a Lorton corner, but her powerful header is just over.

The scoring ended on 81 minutes as Williams caps off a fine performance. A long ball over the top finds Lorton, who lays it off to Williams, she takes it in her stride on the left and fires it past the keeper.

Best of luck to Bournemouth in their league campaign and looking forward to seeing Keynsham’s next game.
