Bath TTL 2018/19 Week 12

A loss from the Premier leaders, big Chippenham wins, 10 maximums in Division One and still an unbeaten Batheaston A in Division Two – all in just one week!

In the Premier League only 9 points separate Oldfield A and Chippenham A. Oldfield slipped to a shock 16-23 loss to a youthful Bathford B side, inspired by the Kashdan brothers. Josh Kashdan secured all 9 points with Leon Kashdan-Brown adding 7 points.

Chippenham C could only gain two points against their A team losing 2-30 at home. Chippenham B also recorded a large win with a 28-5 victory over Oldfield C, who could only field two players.

The two Invaders teams had closer affairs in the remaining two games. Bathford A benefited by calling upon Josh Kashdan, winning by a single point against Bath Invaders A. David Busari’s maximum wasn’t enough for the Invaders as they went down 21-20 away at Bathford.

Bath Invaders B had more luck on their travels winning 19-16 away to Oldfield B. The home side had to call upon Mike Newton and has this to say:

“It was a good, close, hard fought and fun match, and really didn’t feel like only 3 of the singles went above 3 games. We were really pleased that our super-sub Mike won 1 game, earning us 1 point, and really could have pinched one or two more, which is why the current scoring system is liked – giving more players something to play for more often!”

Division One saw league leaders Radstock A record a 30-9 win over third placed Bitton; all three with maximums. Hot on their heels Key Centre A also won but had to call upon their B team to support them. David Galley and Grahame Harbour secured 9 points each as they won 23-16 against Bathford C.

Chippenham D took full advantage of Bitton’s loss as they won 29-10 against two man Radstock B. This put them within touching distance of third place, thanks to two maximums.

Elsewhere Bear Flat A went down 16-19 against Ollie Newton’s Ensleigh A; the teenager adding another MOTM performance.

Finally there was an interclub battle in Yatton Keynell with the C team losing 14-24 against their B team. Alasdair Hulbert and Andrew Purkiss were made to work hard of their maximums for the B team.

It was an altogether tighter affair in Division Two.

Radstock C went down 17-20 to Dennis Townsend’s unstoppable Batheaston A. Second vs third played out a 20-18 match as Key Centre B just overcame Mayfield.

The score lines were a bit more comfortable for the Bear Flat sides on their travels. Oldfield E found Tim Cahill in fine form as they lost 10-25 to Bear Flat B. Bathford D found Bear Flat C too strong as they went down 10-27.

There is now a 53 point gap between 10th placed Ensleigh B and 11th placed Yatton Keynell D, after the Yatton side suffering a 10-22 defeat.
