Keynsham Ladies vs Swindon

Keynsham Ladies 4-0 Swindon Town Ladies
National League Div One SW
AJN Stadium
14/03/19

At the business end of the season Keynsham got off to the best of starts against Swindon and didn’t look back.

Nadine Grogan clears the ball up to Laura Williams who takes a great touch to take the ball forward. She crosses with her second touch and finds Kerry Bartlett, who touches it around the on rushing keeper and applies a cool finish with two covering defenders in tow.

Keynsham kept coming forward which limited Swindon’s attacking play. The pressure pays as Bartlett added a second goal on twenty seven minutes.

Justine Lorton controls the ball in the middle of the pitch and plays it through to Bartlett through two defenders. The inform striker sees the keeper coming out and applied a first time finish.

Then a moment later Lorton twists and turns her marker but the keeper saves her shot well at the near post.

There was another ball to pick out of the Swindon net but Williams’ cross to Kelly Aldridge was called back for Williams being offside, after the winger scores.

The half draws to a close with half chances for both sides with both teams attack lacking a final cutting edge.

Lorton’s freekick hits the bar in the first ten minutes of the second half as Keynsham start to come out on top again.

Keynsham go 3-0 up just past the hour mark. There was a break away from Aldridge as she shows her marker a clean set of heels. She feeds Bartlett who turns back inside from the wing and crosses. Aldridge had continued into the box and gets her head to the cross to lift it over the keeper.

Around five minutes later Lorton places a first time shot wide five minutes later after a big clearance upfield by Charlotte Haynes.

There was even a time for a debut goal from Keynsham’s number 12 Libby Sims. A throw in on the left finds a midfielder to cross in near the by-line for Sims to get on the end of at the back post.

This was by no means a straight forward game for Barrie Newton’s side as Swindon made it difficult to thread a final ball for large periods of the game. Best of luck to both sides as the season draws to an end.
