Bath City hunt for new players

New City players sooner than we thought?

It came out in the Chronicle today that caretaker manager Jim Rollo is looking at the possibility of bringing in new players. Rollo is in sole charge of Bath City following Adie Britton’s departure this week as the free falling Romans take on Whitehawk at home on Saturday 6th.

However he may need to bring through a youngster to help bulk up the squad should Ben Adelsbury leave for Truro before Saturday’s game. The BBC have reported that the player wants to leave to join up with his old club Truro in a quote from Cornish club’s manager:

“Ben’s put out his wishes that he wants to come to us, so if we can get that one over the line before Saturday then we’ve done really well,” said Tully.

This may open the door for some of the club’s younger players currently in the Development squad or the under 18s. Ryan Bole has caught the eye of many this season for his efforts up front for the under 18s.

However what City really need is a battling midfielder who is committed to a relegation fight for the remainder of the campaign. Rollo will be best placed to access what talent is in the current youth set up having played with many of them in the Somerset Premier cup over the last few years. He will have also have a large network of former teammates to call upon for advice on signing the right player that City need should he be given the post until the end of the season.

It is also worth pointing out that Adelsbury has not publically commented on his implied desire to leave. Should he be involved in the first team squad this weekend he will be putting his all in for getting City a much needed 3 points against Whitehawk.

Bath beat Whitehawk early in the season 1-0 away but the Hawks will fancy their chances this time around. You can watch this reaction to the defeat here:

So make sure you give Rollo and his coaching staff your full support this Saturday at Twerton Park in a 3pm ko.
