BDTTL Summer League 15th Aug ’18

Bath and District Table Tennis
Summer League 2018

Following another steamy night at St Johns, Nietzsche’s Nightmares are now looking strong favourites to repeat last year’s success following a convincing 7-2 win over the bottom team Mendip Lambs.

Steve Doidge continued his recent hot form by getting another maximum and continues to defy his ever growing handicap. He was well-supported by John Turner and Alan Charlton.

The game between the 2nd and 3rd teams, Batheaston Braves and Keynsham TT Club, was an altogether tighter affair with 3 games going to sudden death in the decider.

In fact it could not have been tighter being won by The Braves 5-4 and sudden death in the 3rd end of the 9th set! All this despite an excellent maximum from Mark Tanner for the Keynsham team.

Ursa Major’s 6-3 win over Oldfield saw them leapfrog the Monkton Combe team in the middle of the table and they are once again pressing for a top 3 position.

It was good to see some young talent on display in this game, Tim Green making his first appearance in the League and contributing 2 wins to his team’s score.

Near the foot of the table, there was nothing between Keep Paddling and Dawns Divas going into Round 12, but a in a very competitive match Keep Paddling were the team that moved up thanks to their 6-3 win.

Richard Smith had one of his better nights, his maximum proving to be the crucial contribution.
