Weekend Preview
Bath based teams
15th August 2015

The local rugby and futsal teams don’t have any league games this weekend, with their season starting later, so it’s a football special this week. We’re still looking for a cricket writer so please get in touch if you can help.

Odd Down and Keynsham Town are your two home games this weekend. Both kicking off at 3pm, Odd Down take on Ashton & Backwell Utd whilst Keynsham host Ceddar.

On Wednesday 12th Odd Down got their season started with a 2-2 draw away to a strong Bradford Town side. Mark Guy was at the game and his photos can be found here.

This slow start has left them 18th in a 21 team Western Premier League and their management team will be hoping for a solid performance on Saturday against their newly promoted opponents.

Keynsham got the result they wanted on Tuesday night with a 2-0 win over Wincanton Town. Chris King’s new look Keynsham squad have given him their first 3 points of the season lifting them to 11th. Keynsham are without striker Pat Davison and central defender Ben Stiff who are set to return to the squad in late September, so points early on with a developing squad is vital.

Bath City are two wins from two this season and they travel to Whitehawk this Saturday. Having overcome both Wealdstone and Basingstoke 2-1 (home and away respectively) last week their travelling fans will be hoping for another solid performance.

Matthew Coupe started the game for the first time since 24th August 2010 when he only lasted 45 minutes. He subsequently left the (then) Blue Square Premier side for Gloucester. On Tuesday night against Basingstoke he lasted the full 90 minutes and fans will be eager to see the 36 year old in City colours again this weekend.

Larkhall are also away after picking up their first points of the new season on Tuesday with a 5-1 away win. Bashley were the unlucky opposition as the Larks showed some of the form they were in last season. This Saturday sees them take on Slimbridge away where Wayne Thorne will be hoping that Brad Norris can build on his 2 goals in midweek.
