Football
Bath City have a huge game this weekend when they entertain Conference Premier club Altrincham in the last 16 of the FA Trophy at 3pm on Saturday. Bath have already beaten Bristol Rovers and Wealdstone away to reach this stage and are now just 3 wins away from Wembley.
This game is vital for Bath as their debts need to be paid up at the end of the season, which is an estimated £500,000. There is a Supporters Society meeting talking to the fans about Community Ownership down at the football club on Monday 26th Jan at 7.30pm. It’s a chance for supporters to find out how they can help and what it means to be a community football club ahead of the Society’s proposal going to the board in Feb.

Larkhall travel to Wimborne Town with their game subject to the weather staying dry on Saturday with a 3pm ko. The Larks are flying in the league this season and currently sit in 6th place. A win could see them climb as high as 3rd in a tight South & West Div One game.
There is a coach going to the game: The coach will leave at 11.30am from London Road (outside No 1 Beaufort). Cost £10 per person.

Our two Western League clubs are both away this weekend too. Western Premier Odd Down travel to Gillingham, whilst Div One Keynsham Town go to the Cheesemen in Cheddar. Odd Down managed a 2-1 win back in September but squads can change a lot in 4 months and it will be a tough test. Cheddar managed to steal a point at the AJN in Decemeber so Chris King will know his young Keynsham side will have to be at their very best to come away with anything this weekend.
Rugby
Season ticket holders will be in for a great game this Sunday when Glasgow Warriors come down to Bath in a 4.15 ko. Bath Rugby will be keen to build on their strong outing against Toulouse last week in the European Rugby Champions Cup and a win on Sunday will put them through to the next stage. The game is already sold out so if you weren’t lucky enough to get a ticket then come and support a local rugby team this weekend instead.
Avon’s First team and 2nds are both at home in a bumper Saturday. Avon host city neighbours Walcot at Hicks Field in the quarter finals of the Bath Comination Cup, with the 2nds taking on Old Edwardians in a rearranged Somerset 3 match. The Avon committee would love to see you there with plenty of grass roots rugby on display and a fully stocked bar available.
Futsal
Bath Futsal are currently competing in the group stages of the Futsal FA Cup. They managed a 10-2 win at home over National League Div One York, but lost 6-5 away at Div One Stockport. They have another trip this weekend to London Zappsport Futsal Club who have also performed well against higher league opposition.
The club need to finish in the top two places to progress to the next round so this Sunday’s game is a vital for their chances of securing one of these places. London Zappsport play in the National League Div 2 South but the standard of play in the London area is strong with more players to pick from so it’ll be a tough ask for Billy Whittaker’s team.
Fencing
Bath Sword Club run adult fencing lessons throughout the year in 6 week courses. The first course of the year starts up this Monday night at 8.30pm. It takes place at the University of Bath at the Founders Sports Hall at just £60 for al 6 lessons.
The objective of the course is to teach the fundamentals of fencing; attack, defence, safety. To introduce competitive fencing. At the end of the course you will be able to join a fencing club and fully participate in the sport. All you need is trainers, water and loose fitting clothes.
At the end of course you will get a bonus session as a trial member of Bath Sword Club to see if you’d like to take up the sport on a more regular basis.
