Wheeler’s eye set on London

The Somerset Stallion is set for London bout

Ryan Wheeler, aka The Somerset Stallion, is set to take on Danny Parsons in London on Wednesday 24th February in his 5th professional fight. The fight will take place at the Lancaster Hotel as part of The Annual Charity Boxing Dinner which this year raises money for Norwood and the Paskin Children’s Trust.

“This will be a tough test for me but I’m looking to out box him” says a confident Wheeler whilst talking about the fight. “Training has gone really well, I’ve been training with Lee Haskins who has helped me improve a few things.”

Bristol based Lee Haskins was crowded full IBF Bantamweight World Champion in November last year; having already won every title available across three different weight classes. Haskins has been helping Wheeler train for the last few months, whilst maintaining his own fitness. So his experience in the ring and in fight preparation should stand Wheeler in good stead to add to his three wins so far.

The last of those wins came back in November 2015 when he fought the more experienced Dean Evans. It was a close run fight ending in a 40-37 points triumph after a spirited final round securing the vitals points.

Danny Parsons must not be underestimated though as the 22 year old has won two of his four bouts so far by knockout. Winning by knockout is something Wheeler has yet to achieve, which will make the first few rounds of the fight crucial for both fighters. A win for either boxer is a chance to enhance their already growing reputations in front of some of boxing’s big names.

Wheeler will go into this fight with a strong team in his corner as more companies continue help support the Frome based boxer. “Also would like to say a big thank you to my sponsors Trainstation Gym Frome, Science In Sports (SiS), Red Falcon Project (RFP), Connor Construction and DC Gym Wear

Best of luck Ryan in what should be a great night of boxing!
