Ashley Pooley and Par Eliasson joined in with good performances at the plate to support solid pitching from Rich Green and Raupenas.
“I am delighted with the way we performed in the first game and kept focused on winning the game,” said Badgers manager Tom Hollies.
“It will be vital that we keep up that concentration when we come up against better teams. There is still a long way to go and we need to make sure we perform consistently at the highest possible level.”
At Somerdale, a late five run surge by the Exeter Spitfires put the Bristol Bats on the wrong end of a 19-13 thriller in the South West Baseball League (SWBL).
The lead changed hands five times during the game with the Bats producing their best performance of the season to put pressure on last year’s SWBL finalists.
In the field the Bats worked two double plays as well to add to some outstanding defensive work early on.
The team had 13 hits against Exeter pitcher Mike Osborn with Alex Brown, Tom Knox, Keith Weinberg and Darius Tamosiunas all having multiple hit days.
“The team has put in a lot of work on the practice field and it showed in what was our best performance of the season,” said Keith Weinberg, the Bats’ manager.
“If we can keep improving like this then I believe we can have an excellent second half of the season.”
Next Sunday (10th June) the Badgers welcome Leicester Blue Sox to Somerdale Pavilion for their next double header.
The game starts at 12 noon and the Bristol team will be aiming to maintain their unbeaten record and move to 12-0.
The Bats have no league game but will host Cardiff in a friendly on Saturday (9th June) starting at 12.30 – follow all of the action on their Twitter feed.
