Bristol Badgers split their British Baseball Federation (BBF) double header against the Guildford Mavericks on Sunday 5th May.
The Bristol team dominated the first game chalking up 17 hits in the 12-3 victory with Tom Hollies and Darius Tamosiunas each collecting three.
They were well supported by Par Eliasson, Rhodri Theaker and Tadas Sarakojis who all had multiple hits to secure the Badgers’ first win of the season.
Pitcher Deivydas Trinkunas had a strong day on the mound striking out 10 Mavericks over six and two thirds innings.
The second game ended in disappointment for the Bristol team who went down 12-14 despite a fightback after being seven runs down after the second innings.
Shortstop Hollies lead the fightback going four for four at the plate. He was supported by Vil Katinas, Mike MacDowell and George Braeger who all had a good game with the bat.
“Whilst it was good to get our first win, it was a real shame we fell two runs short at the end of the second game despite showing a great deal of character,”
said Tom Hollies, the Badgers’ player manager.
“Our defence was really good on the day with just one fielding error across the two games.”
Next Sunday (12th May) the Badgers travel to Brighton to take on the Brewers, while the Bats and Buccaneers resume their South West Baseball League campaigns.
The Bats travel to Cardiff to take on newcomers the Merlins, whilst the Buccaneers host the Weston Jets at Somerdale Pavilion in a 12 noon game.
