Bath City are through to the Quarter finals of the FA Trophy after a 1-0 win over Conference Premier side Altrincham on Saturday 24th. A Phil Walsh headed goal from Ross Stearn’s free kick on 78 minutes was enough to the see the Conference South team progress with the draw coming this lunch time. Larkhall had a bad day on the road as they went down 3-0 to Wimborne. The 12th placed team took the lead early and lead the Larks 2-0 at half time, then then added a third in the second half to cap off a fine performance. Larkhall slip down to 7th place but they are still in touching distance of third place, only four points off.
In front of a crowd of just 71 Odd Down played out a thrilling 3-2 away win against Gillingham Town in the Western League Premier. The game came alive in the second half after the teams went in 1-1 at half time, but then it was an end to end game in the last 45mins. Odd Down’s goal scorers were Matt Guy, Kye Simpson and Lee Bridson. They certainly earned their 3 points this week, which has kept them in the hunt for a top 5 finish.
Cheddar were too strong for Keynsham as the Ks went down 3-1 away. Tom Morgan got their goal in another afternoon to forget for Chris King. This latest set back has put them 17th in the Western League Div One and they will need to improve soon to avoid another relegation scrap come the end of the season.
Rugby
Bath Rugby came through a tough test on Sunday against Glasgow in a 20-15 win. It was a full house at the Rec with tickets like gold dust in the city and they watched a great game. A frantic finish in the second half with the score swinging from 15-13 to Glasgow to end up 20-15 to Bath meant that Bath top their European Cup group and eagerly await their next opponents.
Avon managed to breeze past Walcot Rugby in the battle of Bath this weekend with a massive 40-7 win. Avon managed 5 trys and progress to the semi finals of the Bath Combination Cup.
Futsal
Bath Futsal had to concede a 3-0 win to London Zappsport on Sunday due to travel problems. This makes it very unlikely that they will progress in the Futsal FA Cup with one win and two losses in their group so far. They still have 3 games to play and Billy Whittaker and Michael Wootten will be looking for much more commitment from their talented squad if they are to give a decent account of themselves.
