Spirit of Bath City award March 2016

On Tuesday 1st March the Bath City Supporters Society presented their second ever “Spirit of Bath City” award. This is awarded to supporters who have made an outstanding contribution to the Bath City family.

The second recipient of the “Spirit of Bath City” award is Martin ‘Basil’ Brush, who received his award at half time at the game against Gosport Borough. Bas has served on the Supporters Club Committee for many years, helping to raise thousands of pounds to help the football club he loves. He can always be found in the Supporters Club HQ on match days organising the Matchday Draw, selling merchandise and lending a hand whenever needed. He is a loyal supporter of all club events, some of which would feature his legendary raffles!

Bas has probably seen more City away matches than any other supporter and when the Supporters Club needed someone to take on the organising of the coaches, there was really only one candidate! Despite a drop in numbers travelling in recent seasons, Bas has doggedly ensured that a coach has run to virtually every away fixture to support the team; the regular supporters appreciate all of his efforts on their behalf.

The “Spirit of Bath City” award is presented in association with Independent Spirit of Bog Island, a specialist provider of cocktail grade spirits, single malt whiskies, fine wines and a vast selection of world and craft beers, who have kindly donated a bottle of ‘Ninkasi’ craft beer. Find them on Twitter here to see their latest offers and products.

Cheryl Bradley was the first recipient of the award last month after her tireless work behind the scenes with the Supporters Club. She also volunteers at every home game by selling Match Day Draw tickets, which raises thousands over the course of the season.

So if you know someone who should be the next “Spirit of Bath City”, please nominate them via bathcitysocietycommittee@gmail.com, there will be two more awards to be presented this season in April and May.
