Opinion piece
Absolutely gutted! I saw the rumours last night and I hoped that it wasn’t true with the FA Cup coming up this weekend (vs Knaphill FC Sat 16th ko 3pm, be there).
It reminds me of when he did it the last time back in 2004 to leave for Forest Green. He failed in that job and went into coaching for league teams and academies. Torquay are in a bad way with, going by reports, an awful owner in Harrop.
Both times he was finally building a strong Bath side with the potential to go on and get promoted. Money must be talking here otherwise you wouldn’t leave a club on the up.
Form dipped after he left the club and we ended up finishing one place off the play offs. I hope this doesn’t happen again this time around as the club needs the excitement of the play offs to push up attendances towards the end of the season.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see him out of a job by the end of the season even if they stay up. Unfortunately he will have to win over the wants who weren’t overly impressed with his appointment:
Absolute Joke of an organisation. Well done for allowing us to fall 8 points adrift while you make this uninspiring, farcical appointment

Fudge off, joke of a club to take a month and now pretty much secure relegation after 10 games.

I would say best of luck Gary but you’ve burnt your bridges twice now. Thank you for giving us a very good squad this season though, but hands off!
One plus point is that Jim Rollo was player of the season for 2004/05 and hopefully Jim will now get to make the Bath job his own. If he does and gets Bath to the play offs then I’ll vote him player of the season, supporter of the season, volunteer of the season…..
