Bath TTL 2018/19 Week 11

Chippenham A clawed back two points from league leaders Oldfield A, winning 20-18 in the Premier League. Phil Marshall had to be at his very best to gain 9 points for the away team as Bibek Karki took him to five sets.

Bath Invaders A recorded a third win of the season with a 29-6 win over Chippenham C; Jon Thorn and Len Vowles winning 9 points each.

The final three games featured teams only being able to field two players. Bathford B were short and went down 9-24 to third placed Chippenham B. A full strength Yatton Keynell A beat two man Oldfield B; 27-12.

However Bathford A travelled to bottom placed Bath Invaders B and beat the home team by a point. Peter Mott was MOTM with a maximum and was supported by teenager William Avery getting 7 points; winning the doubles to make it 18-19 to the away side.

It is close at the top in Division One as Key Centre have closed the gap to Radstock A to just five points. Yatton Keynell B went down 11-27 to a strong Keynsham side with league new comer George Pickering the pick of the bunch with 9 points.

Ensleigh A pulled off a 22-19 win at home to league leaders Radstock A. The game was tied at 19 points each going into the doubles, where teenager Ollie Newton and the experienced Ian Clark overcame MOTM Derek Landricombe and Keren Millard 3-0.

At the other end of the table Oldfield D recorded their first win of the season. Greg Burridge inspired the home side to a 23-20 win over Yatton Keynell C; putting them within touching distance of safety.

In the last two games the away sides came away with win. Colin Thomas’ 9 points wasn’t enough for Bathford C as they lost 16-20 to Bear Flat A. Elsewhere Bitton lost 16-22 to Chippenham D, Ben Greene getting a maximum on the road.

Division Two yielded 8 maximums for just five games. Batheaston A are still unbeaten at the top, winning 29-7 against Bathford D. Dennis Townsend and Nigel Pedley achieving 9 points each.

Key Centre B lost on the road 20-19 to an experienced Bear Flat B. Jose Perpetua’s maximum wasn’t enough for the away side as they lost 3-1 in the doubles.

Mayfield continue their rise up the league by winning 30-2 against two man Yatton Keynell D. Nigel Woolley, Reg Morris and Stephen Tanner all gaining maximums.

Bear Flat C were beaten 12-23 by Oldfield E. Colin Downing put in a MOTM performance for the away side.

Finally Ensleigh B were beaten in a close match, 16-19, by Batheaston B. Phil Taylor is taking his first table tennis season in his stride as he notched up another 9 points for the home side.
