Premier Division
The top three win this week to keep their positions as Chippenham A stay top of the standings. Gary Baldwin was MOTM in their 28-4 victory against Bath Invaders A. Abid Khan did beat Terry Parkins for the Invaders but despite battling well couldn’t halt Chippenham’s dominance in the league.
It was a clean sweep for Chippenham B with David Hadley gaining the MOTM award; after a 30-3 away win against Oldfield B. Ali Pearson was Oldfield A’s MOTM against Bathford A as they won 25-11 away.
The closest match of the week produced a shock result as Bath Invaders B look to gain on the teams above them. Despite Josh Kashdan’s maximum and MOTM award for Bathford B the away side went down 22-19. Noah Hung gained 8 points for the home side and was backed up well by Stephen Doidge and Wayne Coombes. This closes the gap to safety to just 18 points.
The only other game of the week was also a shock with Yatton Keynell A winning 26-8 against Oldfield C. Alan Champney was the only player to gain points for the away side as Yatton Keynell dominated proceedings.
First Division
Radstock A win again, beating Yatton Keynell C away 28-5. The table toppers had strong performances from all three players with MOTM going to Tony Mileham. Joseph Dukes did record one set win for the hosts against Chris Bennett, but Radstock proved too strong.
The closest match of the week went to Bitton as they won by a single point against an improving Ensleigh A; 18-17. Ollie Newton continued his fine season with another MOTM for Ensleigh, whilst Bitton’s Alan Papier and Chris Toff won the doubles 3-0 to clinch victory.
Elsewhere there were comfortable victories for Chippenham D, Radstock B and Yatton Keynell B.
Chippenham won 26-12 against Bear Flat A with maximums from Ben Greene and Steve Deeble on Tuesday 5th February. Then on Wednesday 6th Wayne Button and Mark Bennetts maximums helped Radstock to a 27-10 win against two man Bathford C.
Then finally, on Thursday 7th, Yatton won away to Oldfield D 28-9, thanks to fine performances from Adam Dawes and Alasdair Hulbert.
Second Division
There were only four recorded games in Division Two as Batheaston A returned to winning ways.
Batheaston were made to fight for their 23-15 win over a strong Mayfield side. Gary Sartain gained the MOTM away for the home side but all three Mayfield players recorded wins as well as a doubles win.
Second placed Key Centre B did just enough to overcome a Greg Rowland inspired Bathford D side. The visitors won 21-14 with Dave Carter and Matt Timpson winning their last games and the doubles to ensure their team stays ahead of the chasing pack in the promotion race.
Bear Flat B continue their rich vein of form with a win in their inter club game against their C team; 26-10. Tim Cahill continued his own fine form with another maximum and MOTM for the B team, overcoming John Hunter in 5 games.
Finally, Oldfield E beat two man Batheaston B 26-13. Lee Bailey produced a fine performance to gain nine points for Oldfield, with Phillip Gentle getting seven for the away side.
