Dartford Jan 2015

Well wasn’t last weekend disappointing!

On Saturday Rovers played Vanrama Conference strugglers Dartford. Like every other Rovers fan, I thought we would bring home the 3 points.

Unfortunately, due to family commitments, I was unable to make the trip around the M25 to Dartford.

I was walking around Kingston with my family, constantly checking the Score Centre and Twitter, when I let out a ‘get in!’ as I read Matty Taylor had given Rovers the lead after a good run and finishing well. I must admit I thought we would go on to win, but how wrong was I!

Four minutes later Dartford had equalised from a corner and we went into half time 1-1.

Rovers fought hard and took the lead again on the 78th minute. Ellis Harrison and Adam Dawson linked up well, a ball was played into the box and the Dartford defender’s clearance hit Harrison and trickled over the line! Surely Rovers would hold on now?

Nope.

Within 2 minutes it was 2-2 with Dartford getting the equaliser from a great free kick.

Another frustrating afternoon on the road for Rovers, and another 2 points lost.

New signing Jermaine Easter was subbed on the 8th minute with a knee injury – let’s hope he’s not out for to long. Stuart Sinclair also missed out through injury which is a shame as it’s clear we are missing his energy in the centre of the pitch.

Not that it’s an excuse, but how bad was the pitch?! I’ve just looked at some photos and it looked awful. That’s a Sunday league pitch.

Last night saw the transfer window shut, I love transfer deadline, the excitement of who’s going to sign who and so on, but how disappointing was last night?

However Rovers did make a signing by bringing in midfielder Josh Wakefield on loan from Championship side Bournemouth. The youngster, who has experience of the conference after playing for Torquay already this season, joins on a month long loan. I think this could be a positive move for Rovers as Wakefield is young and clearly wants to prove himself. I’m looking forward to seeing what he can bring us.

Next up for Rovers is a home game against Lincoln.

Come on Rovers!
